Tracking that actually works
AliExpress tracking is reliable until the parcel leaves China. After that, it depends on the last-mile partner in the Netherlands. Cainiao handoffs to PostNL or DHL sometimes create a 24–48 hour black hole while the parcel is being customs-cleared. The fix is to use the Dutch carrier’s tracking number once the handoff happens, not the AliExpress number.
Customs and the €150 line
AliExpress Choice uses IOSS only for orders up to €150. If your cart is €160, the whole order falls out of IOSS and may arrive DDU or be split. What to watch for in 2026
From November 2026 every AliExpress parcel will need pre-declaration data (PID) and will be subject to a new EU handling fee. AliExpress will handle most of this for Choice orders, but standard-shipping parcels may be delayed if the seller submits incomplete data. Expect longer clearance times for the cheapest lanes.

AliExpress refunds, disputes and buyer protection
AliExpress buyer protection gives you 15 days after delivery to open a dispute if the item is not as described or does not arrive. That sounds generous, but the clock starts when the tracking says delivered, not when you actually receive it. If PostNL leaves the parcel with a neighbour or in a shed, you may not notice for days.
Winning a dispute requires evidence. Take clear photos or video of the unboxing, the product label and any defect. For electronics, include a screenshot or video showing the malfunction. AliExpress dispute mediators decide fast and rarely reverse decisions.
Another common issue is partial shipment. A seller may split your order into two parcels without telling you. The first arrives quickly, the tracking marks the order delivered, and the second parcel gets lost in the system. When you order multiple items, ask the seller to confirm whether they will ship in one parcel.
